Minutes from our May 2012 Meeting

The Eta Chi Chapter of Psi Iota Xi met at Pam Maxwell's home. Hostesses were Pam and Mary Jarrett.

Sixteen members (out of our 19) were present as President Marilyn Siderewicz conducted the meeting.

Roll call was taken by Sue Richwine, and the minutes for the April meeting were distributed for approval. Evelyn Long moved that the minutes be accepted as printed, and Judy Meyer seconded the motion.

Treasurer’s Report was given by Sharon Tutterow as:

Philanthropic fund $ 949.51

General fund 1,096.48

Total Balance $2,045.99

Correspondence was read by Janet Putt.

1. We received a thank you note from the Morgan County Public Library for our continued financial support of their Summer Reading Program.

2. We received the new brochure for next season's Morgan County Community Concert series.

3. Beth Amahd sent a letter of regret expressing her need to become an inactive member as her life has become quite busy with her new baby and other family commitments.

4. We received a letter from the National Nominating Committee naming the new candidates that have been nominated for National Council for the coming year.

5. Kim Crawley, National Vice President, sent a list of possible changes to our National By-Laws that we are asked to consider and vote upon at National Convention. Evelyn Long made a motion to give our delegates permission to vote as they see fit on these By Law changes. Barb Curtis seconded the motion. The Chapter unanimously voted in favor of this decision.

Unfinished Business:

1. Evelyn Long reported that our 'Rummage' sale will be held at West Middle School cafeteria from June 7-9 with a set up date of June 6th. It was also decided to label all items in $.25 increments. We were advised to mark our prices on masking tape. Evelyn sent around a sign up sheet for working on these days.

2. Pat Anderson reported that her committee had selected a scholarship recipient, but the name will not be announced until NEXT month.

3. Janet Putt reported that our Psi Ote of the Year nominee had been turned in to National Council as well as our Helicon article.

4. Marilyn asked if anyone knew of a student that we could sponsor at Camp Riley. No one had a suggestion, but Marilyn said that Suzie Lipps may have someone from West Middle School. Marilyn/Suzie will take care of this matter.

5. Marilyn asked Cassi Henry what she thought about our 'sales table' at the State Meeting. Cassi explained that only the gift baskets sold well. It was a lot of expense/time for only a profit of $190. The group decided not to do this at National Convention. There was more discussion of having members simply donate $ periodically throughout the year instead of spending so much money on making things hoping they will sell. Although many members agreed with this idea, it was not voted on or decided upon.

New Business:

1. Kathy Burkhart, Cassi Henry, and other members reported on the IN State Meeting in Ft. Branch that was attended last month. All those attending felt it was a well organized, quick meeting. Everyone attending enjoyed the professional style show done by 'The Graceful Lady,' a boutique in Ft. Branch. We also enjoyed the style show that was done by the Ft. Branch Chapter's husbands, grandsons, and nephews. It was hilarious.

2. Marilyn asked the group if anyone else wanted Sharon to register them for National Convention. Sharon will be sending in our registration for delegates Kathy Burkhart and Cassi Henry; also Sue Richwine and Nancy Grube will be attending.

Installation of officers was conducted this evening by President Marilyn Siderewicz.
